JIRÁSEK PARK

JIRÁSEK PARK

Jirásek Park is literally in the centre of the city – just off Large Square, next to the Elbe embankment and next to the winter stadium. The park is triangular in shape and its natural boundary is the confluence of the Elbe and Orlice rivers. It is significant for their rare woody plants, but also for the unique wooden church of St. Nicholas or the music pavilion.

ŽIŽKA PARK

ŽIŽKA PARK

Žižka Park is bordered on the south by the terraces of the Old Town and on the north by Československé armády Avenue. It was created in 1905-1907 according to the plans of František Thomayer. This park has a grassy parterre with a circular fountain in the central part. To the west and east are circular raised flower beds, which are regularly planted with annual plants.

ŠIMEK PARK

ŠIMEK PARK

Šimek Park is largest park in Hradec Králové, covering an area of 18 hectares, designed by J. Gočár in 1925. The park is in English style and is complemented by several artificial lakes. Its southern border is formed by the remains of the fortress walls. The park has an interesting history, for example, during the crisis this park was compared to Prague’s Hunger Wall, because the unemployed worked here to qualify for financial support.
