Hradec Králové urban forests are interwoven with a dense network of trails, including an asphalt circuit, which can be used especially by cyclists and in-line skaters. For the most part, you will be riding through the woods in pleasant shade surrounded by nature and within easy reach of the city centre. The area is also very suitable for trips with children, either by bike or on foot. In addition, you will find the Knight’s Fortress, where your little ones can have some fun before heading back. You will also find refreshment stands at several stops and there is also a public transport line that runs here.

“Forests with a tradition of over 700 years”

The town of Hradec Králové received its forests as a gift from the Roman King Albrecht in 1307. In the following centuries, their area gradually increased. In 1931, with the purchase of part of the Margrave Pallavicini’s estate, the area of the urban forests almost doubled. Today, the Statutory City of Hradec Králové owns 3800 ha of forest, including ponds and other land. Since 1991, they have been managed and administered first by the contributory organisation Městské lesy Hradec Králové, which was transformed into the joint-stock company Městské lesy Hradec Králové a.s. in 2001.
