In Hradec Králové you can also take a steamboat cruise! Boat cruises take about 50 minutes. The boats sail from the quay at Smetana Embankment towards the Old Town under the White Tower, upstream to Plácky to the Stone Bridge.
The Hradec steamboat company was founded in 1998. Its founders are Jaroslav Kostkan and Zdeněk Balský, who together built the Hradec steamboat. It has become a new tourist attraction for residents and visitors of Hradec Králové. In 2001, the company began work on a new steamboat called Queen Eliška, which was launched in July 2004 with the help of the Municipality of Hradec Králové and the cruise friends. In the same year, the Pirate Sailing Ship was put into operation, which is especially popular among children. In June 2008, the motor boat Smiřice was added to the Hradec Králové fleet. In September 2014, the last ship, the propeller steamer Primátor Ulrich, which was built with the contribution of the Municipality of Hradec Králové, was put into operation.
